Projects

Everything I've built, in one place.

Products, tools I wrote because I couldn't find one I liked, extensions, games, and the occasional experiment that got out of hand. Every entry has its own page with the full story.

Products

The bigger builds: designed, engineered and looked after by me.

  • A native, Sublime-inspired text editor in Rust: instant start-up, a thousand cursors without a stutter, proper git and a Vim mode. No telemetry.

    • Editor
    • Open source
  • A binary analysis and forensics workbench that runs in the browser. Twenty-plus tools around one hex editor, no upload, no telemetry.

    • Forensics
  • Post-quantum file encryption that hides names, sizes and dates, with a decoy passphrase that opens a different set of files.

    • Cryptography
    • Open source
  • An OAuth 2.1 and OpenID Connect server where passkeys are the only credential. Multi-tenant, audit-logged, PKCE throughout.

    • Identity
  • One native Rust app for SSH, SFTP, Telnet, serial, VNC, RDP, IRC and GitHub, with an encrypted vault, profile sync and session recording.

    • Remote access
    • Open source
  • An encrypted, audited dead man's switch. Miss your check-ins and your messages, files and actions are released exactly as configured.

    • Security
  • Meeting rooms in the browser, with a shared whiteboard for PDF, Word and PowerPoint, polls, breakout rooms, transcription and tools for maths tutors.

    • Video
  • Customer-facing observability: one Go binary that turns VictoriaMetrics data into typed signals, detectors and plain-English explanations.

    • Observability
  • A private browser workbench for CSV and Excel analysis, anomaly detection, scoring and incident-risk estimation.

    • Data
  • Visual editing for the static site you already have. Mark regions editable, drop in one folder. No database, no migration.

    • Content
    • Open source

Tools, libraries and firmware

Small, sharp things for the problems I kept solving with one-off scripts.

  • Disk usage as a live treemap in the terminal, with filters, duplicates and snapshots. Works over SSH.

    • Terminal
    • Open source
  • A htop-style view of who is using your swap, and whether it is really swapped out.

    • Terminal
    • Open source
  • htop for Docker: every container's CPU, memory and I/O on one screen, and the processes inside each one.

    • Terminal
    • Open source
  • Put your address in the URL and any webhook lands in your inbox, formatted for GitHub, Grafana, JSON or Webex.

    • Go
    • Open source
  • Explore any GitHub repository as a walkable city: files are buildings, imports are routes, and anything with a security alert is on fire.

    • Code
    • Open source
  • A post-quantum-only file encryption tool, file format and Go library, built on hybrid FrodoKEM-640 and ML-KEM-768.

    • Cryptography
    • Open source
  • Flipper Zero firmware with the full Bluetooth Low Energy stack unlocked, plus ten apps to put it to work.

Applied AI

  • A persistent, inspectable cognitive runtime: minds that remember, reason with evidence, say how sure they are and show their working.

    • Docs
  • Shrinks prompts before they reach an LLM with a deterministic four-stage pipeline. No inference, no network calls.

    • LLM tooling
  • A private, OpenAI-compatible LLM server in one Docker container, with time-series analysis and anomaly scoring.

    • LLM tooling
  • Volunteer web development for the Farmers Overseas Action Group, including an AI crop-identification prototype for farmers in Uganda.

    • Volunteering

Extensions

  • User scripts without the ceremony: your own CSS and JavaScript on the sites you choose. Chrome and Firefox.

    • Chrome
    • Firefox
    • Open source
  • An in-editor desk for encoding, decoding, analysing and cracking classical ciphers.

    • VS Code
  • A database cockpit in the editor, from MySQL and PostgreSQL to Redis, MongoDB and Elasticsearch.

    • VS Code
  • Byte-level investigation inside the editor: hex editing, entropy, strings, carving and disassembly.

    • VS Code
  • Terminal connection profiles beside your code, with local and remote sessions and SFTP browsing.

    • VS Code
  • Sublime Text-style line permutation and split-selection commands for VS Code.

    • VS Code
  • An AI chat companion in the sidebar for people with access to Cisco CircuIT.

Experiments and browser toys

Built because a question was interesting, not because anyone asked.

  • A binaural, monaural and isochronic tone lab with an interactive psychoacoustics suite. Headphones recommended.

    • Audio
  • Encode a picture into sound, then read it back as a spectrogram.

    • Audio
  • Fictional identity records for testing, seed data and demos, with a JSON and CSV API.

    • Test data
  • Open Unity BinaryFormatter and JSON saves, edit them visually or as raw JSON, and download a clean round-trip.

    • Modding
  • A continuous, 32-type personality framework and test, with no runtime dependencies and no network requests for scoring.

    • Psychometrics
  • A six-axis political spectrum test, because one left-right line was never going to cover it.

    • Quiz

Guides, services and infrastructure

  • VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, custom collectors and statistical analysis for teams that need more than a dashboard.

    • Service
  • Signed apt, dnf, zypper and pacman packages for vault, mapsize, swaptop and dockertop.

    • Infrastructure
  • Practical, no-nonsense privacy, security and free-speech guidance for life in the UK.

    • Guide
  • A practical guide to digital forensics, from preserving a scene to writing the report. Skim first, read properly second.

    • Guide
  • 328 original British horror stories. Most of them end badly, which is rather the point.

    • Fiction
